FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.) They are responsible for hosting FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), “the varsity sport for the mind”™, combining strict rules, limited resources, and time limits, to challenges teams of 25 students or more to raise funds, design a team “brand”, hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. This multinational organization is founded by inventor Dean Kamen in order to involve students with science, technology and engineering. This competition is an opportunity for about 250 000 high school students and more than 4 000 teams from over 50 countries to come together to work with alongside each other grasping technical and non-technical skills. These students are assisted by industry professionals, teammates and mentors working toward a common goal.
